  I don't think the fact that individual JWs commit horrible crime says anything against the religion itself. You can find examples like that for most, if not all religious groups. I think what speaks them is they way they handle crimes (like pedophilia) as an organization.

  That's not the point. The point is that they elevate themselves above other religions; it is their anthem. They devote factories printing out truckloads of literature passing judgment on Satanic Christianity for all the terrible things they have done over the years, those demonic Trinitarians. The point is, they aren't better. We all sin. How is this different from Nazi butchery except for the degree. Give the JWs 1,800 years and see what wonderful things they have morphed into by then.

  Child Custody Cases out of control, your recommendations?

  i am getting a lot of emails and calls from people who want legal help or counsel because they are divorcing a jw (or vice-versa) and they need help.. i know duane magnani and bill bowen, and recommend them at times, but i am looking for others who might be good referrals as well.

  For those in Ohio someone can track down the attorneys representing the father in the lower court mentioned in the Pater v. Pater summary here. They in turn might know of lawyers in other states. If it is a published decision those names should be listed there. Or a quick call to the clerk of the court might provide that information.

  Pater v. Pater: Are restrictive religious customs harmful?
  
  In Pater v. Pater, 63 Ohio St. 3d 393, 588 N.E. 2d 794 (1992), Ohio's Supreme Court ruled that religious customs that restrict a child's social activities -- even if they separate him or her from peers or go against community standards -- are not enough to justify court intervention unless the practices harm the mental or physical health of the child.
  
  In the Pater case, the child lived with her Jehovah's Witness mother after the parents split. A court later awarded custody to the Catholic father because of the mother's religious practices, including her refusal to celebrate holidays, associate with people outside the Jehovah's Witnesses faith, salute the flag or sing the national anthem.
  
  Ohio's highest court reversed the lower court's decision and granted custody to the mother. The court held that the mother's religious activities -- which essentially barred her child from participating in many social and patriotic activities -- did not adversely affect the child's mental or physical health.

  It is a state by state issue, but they can call their local bar association which sometimes offers recommendations and knows who is who. Hope this helps.

  Sad you can't see it but others will be helped to avoid stepping in to the quagmire of the Trinitarian Fundamentalists.

  But what if it can be proven through scripture that the Trinity doctrine is true? Isn't that where you should start your analysis?

  In a nutshell: 'Love me or I will torture you for all eternity', that's the Trinity God.

  So if you quit being a JW, and Christianity preaches and teaches the Trinity for the most part, where is the true religion? Your options are limited. Where are all of the people that have been harvested for the past 2,000 years? And do you have issues with the fact that Jesus was, and is, God? Or do you believe that those people also are Satanic butchers?

  i found the aug 1, 2009 wt, and the aug 2009 awake in the magazine rack at my work.

  i wrote on the cover with a big sharpie, "1-800-why-1914, www.freeminds.org, and www.jehovahs-witnesses.net .

  on the inside cover i wrote: "warning: contains cult propaganda" any other suggestions?

  This is the last line of the above Athanasian creed quoted. As such, it would apply to the many Protestant and/or other Christian denominations that adhere to the creed.

  Again, where does the bible state IMPLICITY that belief in the Trinity is needed for salvation?

  Not something that MAY be interpreted that way, but stated plainly

  Adding to my earlier post, let's not forget John 17:3, "Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God ... ", a popular JW verse. What God? The triune God.

  Upcoming Study with a Bethel Brother

  so, after a lengthy discussion with my mom on friday, she asked me ( again) to have a study with a bethel brother because the question i ask are too "above" her knowledge and she feels that only a well trained bethel brother can show me the "truth".. i voiced to her my issue:.

  i love my mother, father and sister that are jw's and the last thing i want is to lose them, we had already drifted apart because of their new found faith ( my mom was first, about 8 years ago, then my older sister and just recently, last july 4th, my dad), i told her that if i have these study with a bethel brother i will, most likely, sya thing and state sources that may get me brnaded as an "apostate", i asked her, to be honest and truthful with me and to tell me that, if i get branded that and they are told, suggest to them, to stop dealing with me, would they?.

  she said that no organization tells her who to deal with, even more so in regards to family.. i was not convinced, nevertheless i agreed and this wednesday will have my first study with him, first topic the mwt, my issue with certain translations ( such as romans 10:13, colossians and so forth) and the name "jehovha".. .

  Because it weakens their argument with respect to Thomas saying answering Jesus "My Lord and my God." . Here is a thread that has apparently already been pulled.
